Out and About: |
|
Although the Isle of Skye is now linked to the mainland by a road bridge, the island still has a romantic appeal to it. If you are determined to get there by boat, then you can still do so using ferry services from Mallaig and Glenelg. Alternatively, the new bridge spans the water from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin. The Cuillins on Skye are clearly a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts but the Quiraing and Macleod's Tables are also worth exploring. The mainland counters these with with the Five Sisters and the Forcan Ridge. Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie is set across an arched bridge on a small island and is a picture-postcard scene. Plockton on the coast benefits from the Gulf Stream and you'll even find palm trees growing there.
