Traditional croft cottage, recently restored but retaining much of its original character and authentic island atmosphere. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped with modern conveniences. Beautiful setting with private, secluded, fenced garden surrounded by moorland, not far from rocky seashore. Sandy beaches within easy reach. Shops, eating out, takeaway within 2 miles.

The cottage can accommodate five comfortably, and six at a squeeze, provided the sixth doesn't mind a folding bed.

The cottage is equipped with a folding cot, a high chair, a safety harness, a safety gate for the stairs, a fireguard and a baby bath. The garden is reasonably child-proof and the road is quiet.

Solid fuel stove in the living room (fuel supplied), electric heaters in all other rooms including bathrooms.

LINEN
Provided, but you need to bring your own towels.

ACTIVITIES
Great base for walking, birdwatching, wildlife. Mull is wonderfully varied with terrain ranging from benign heaths and machairs decked with wild flowers to rugged sea cliffs and mountains, most of it unspoiled and with the wildlife to match, such as deer, mountain goats, smaller animals and unbelievably large numbers of bird species, including golden eagles and sea eagles. In fact Mull is known as Scotland's eagle island. Staffa and the Treshnish Isles bird sanctuary, where you can see puffins, guillemot, razorbills, kittiwake and may other seabird species, can be reached from Iona Ferry, only a few miles away. Walkers, geologists, birdwatchers and botanists love Mull.

Only 8 miles from Iona, which is steeped in Celtic spirituality and Scottish history, an ambience which tangibly extends to the Ross of Mull. The Ross of Mull Historical Centre at Bunessan specialises in local history and publishes guides to several heritage walks. Anyone interested in the Da Vinci Code or the alleged Magdalene conspiracy will be intrigued by one of Dervaig Kilmore church's stunning Stephen Adam stained glass windows.

Nowhere sparkles with more freshness, something which enchanted the famous Scottish Colourist school of painters and on a clear night, away from the light and air pollution of the city, you can see for ever.

There is golf (at Iona, Craignure or Tobermory), pony trekking, sailing, fishing, mountain biking, rock-climbing and hillwalking. Mull has one Munro - Ben More and one Corbett - Dun da Gaoth, so if you are bagging these you HAVE TO come to Mull. When you're tired of these, you may be able to take in a ceilidh in the village hall, or visit the famous Mull Little Theatre

Or maybe what you really want is to relax in exquisitely peaceful surroundings away from the treadmill. If so, Knockan is for you.
