PERSABUS COTTAGE is a sixteenth century traditional farmhouse, the Millhouse formed part of the original steadings on the farm. Both properties have been recently renovated to a very high standard. They are situated on Persabus Farm, a working hebridean sheep farm which has been managed by the Fletcher family for generations. The cottages boast a secluded position within one mile of the ferry terminal at Port Askaig, with unsurpassed views of the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura.
The cottages combine the traditional with comfort and all modern conveniences. They are capable of sleeping four to six people and have full oil fired central heating included in the price.
Both cottages have three bedrooms upstairs (a double, a twin, and a room with bunk beds) and a large bathroom with electric shower.
Persabus Cottage has a lounge with a traditional open fireplace,a small study and downstairs toilet. The large kitchen has patio doors onto a private garden and there is a utility room off the kitchen, with plenty of room for drying wet clothing, walking boots etc.
THE MILLHOUSE, Tayvullin as it is translates into Gaelic, has a more modern feel, with a large, light, airy kitchen, complete with dining table and chairs, and a large lounge with a coal effect stove. The cottage has its own distinctive style, with many of the items in the kitchen handmade in Persabus Pottery, it is decorated throughout with original watercolours of Islay and Jura.
Both farmhouse kitchens are fully equipped with electric cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. All linen is provided but guests are requested to bring their own towels. | contact: | Mr D Fletcher Persabus Farm Port Askaig Isle of Islay PA46 7RB
